Cat Microchipping Becomes Law on Monday

07/06/2024

As of Monday the 10th June 2024 it will be a legal requirement for all cats over 20 weeks of age- whether they are outside cats or not - to be microchipped. Owners found not to have their cat microchipped will have 21 days to do so, or face a fine of up to £500.

Microchipping is a quick and painless procedure that can help to reunite lost, stolen or injured pets with their owners. There is no recovery time and, once implanted, details are easy to update.

Here at Orchard Vets microchipping is only £33.95 or free when you join our Pal for Life pet health scheme.
